11/11/2011 Caroline Murphy caroline_murphy@telus.net My grandfather Oskar Gerhard Horn was drafted into the German Army to handle electronic communications. He was killed and to date we have no idea where he was layed to rest and limited history after he was drafted. Thank you for the pictures.
11/7/2011 Trevor Bell TB thebells@btinternet.com At last I have found an expert site on WW2 D/F capability! I am researching an event in the Pacific in Nov 1940 when two German auxillary cruisers (camouflaged raiders) intercepted and sunk RMS Rangitane. There was speculation at the time that the interception was deliberate and the raiders had prior knowledge of the ship's route. I am trying to eliminate other explanations, one being that it was found by D/F. As I understand it, D/F technology was not very advanced in 1940 and would definitely not have been employed on raiders at that time. Can anybody confirm this view please? (preferably in English!). Incidentally, the same raiders sank the Norwegian bulk carrier Vinni a few weeks later.
